A major milestone activity began this week in the Process Improvements Project at the Omohundro WTP. A tunnel boring machine (TBM) began construction of a tunnel that will relocate stormwater drainage around the new treatment facility. The TBM will carve a 9-foot diameter bore through rock over a distance of 1,000 linear feet, and a depth of up to 60 feet below the surface. A new 7-foot diameter pipe will be installed inside of the bore to convey the stormwater.
